that this picture does not seem to refer to the Second Coming - the people on the ground do not even recognize Christ is present and again, He is not touching the ground.

Much different take

My impression of the painting is quite different - but, as you said, interpretation is that of the beholder. An enlarged view shows the daily grind happening at Christ's feet. People coming and going, cars parked nicely along the curbs, etc. Christ is depicted as clearly beyond this world - His feet are not touching the ground and he is increasingly transparent as you look earthward to the bottom of the painting. Notice that he is outside the UN not inside. Of course, we can only speculate but many painters juxtapose two contrasting images to make a statement. Christ being outside the UN and not grounded by national flags seems to make the point that the peace this prince offers cannot come from such worldly sources.
Just a thought. - Cate

Although I believe the UN building will be a pile of ruble or less when Jesus returns, the picture seems to be showing Jesus knocking on the building - indicating that he is absent from there and from the hearts of those within and wants to be let in. But, that is just my idea. It does seem a rather odd picture because it could be very misinterpreted. Wendy - Wendy Leatham

Chris Bentley's article will no doubt open some eyes of those whose eyes can be opened, those who are willing to see, those who are teachable. I wold also refer you to a short book written by Christopher Bentley THE HIDDEN THINGS OF DARKNESS, which can reveal a great deal more of understanding concerning the hidden things of darkness surrounding the United Nations. - Bliss Tew
