The Lessor of two Evils Insanity
9:24 AM on Sep. 16, 2008
One of my favorite sayings is "Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result." Why is it that so many voters will vote for the lessor of two evils, and then complain when they get evil? Somehow, people have the belief that if they vote for the less evil candidate, that they will get good. In this case, two negatives cannot equal a positive. But when it comes to good, they do cancel each other out. We will get no good results from the two evils.
A man that I admire, who will go unnamed, back in the 1800's said that not voting based on principles is a sin! The first time I read that, I was kind of shocked. However, I do believe that how I vote I am responsible for, and accountable for. I am accountable to my children, my neighbors, and any other U.S. citizen. I also believe that I am accountable to God. I am accountable, because he made us free. We have our rights because of him, and if we let them slip away, I think we will have to explain to him why we did not cherish the gift of liberty that he gave us.
I am not going to claim perfection. In fact, I have realized the errors of my ways, and I have been repenting ever since. I used to vote straight party on my ballot. I NEVER looked into their records or positions, I never even paid attention to what they did once elected. And the few times that I thought "Why did they vote like that?" I would talk myself out of my concerns by saying, "They are in politics, they have more information, they most know better what should be done for me." Yes, I was an ignorant, apathetic fool. I admit it.
Five years ago, I knew something was not right. A friend in Iran told me about the Federal Reserve, and I found AFTF as a result of my research to try to prove him wrong. I watched that, saw Ron Paul, thought to myself "Now, there is an honest man, I wish we had someone like him running for president!" Years later, I was a Mitt Romney supporter. I was in his top 24 on Myspace oooo, and I felt oh so special. (seriously) But then, I looked at his record. I had to know, does this man stand for what I think he does? His record told me nope he doesn't. I researched some more, and found his Global Initiative and it scared me to see that he was a globalist! So then, I turned to my myspace fans. I told them what is important to me, the Constitution, Liberty, and so on. And you know what? EVERY single response said Ron Paul. And I thought, "Who is Ron Paul?"
I checked out his Myspace page and was shocked to see it was that honest guy from AFTF! I was so thrilled that I could hardly contain myself. I had just had a spanking for my blind following, so I still wanted to check him out. So, I got online and watched the debate. It was the one where Guliani said that he thought Paul was crazy to say that the attack of 9/11 was blowback. So, I researched it. And suddenly, I found myself repentant again. No more undeclared wars being supported by me. No more pre-emptive war being supported by me. I felt sick, and I was very depressed that I had supported war against people that should have never ever been attacked. I went to my scriptures, and read all I could about war, and I realized, that Ron Paul was right. I read the Constitution again, and realized he was right. I realized I was a brainwashed fool.
Luckily, there was redemption. I still had time to change, to right all my wrongs, and all of that jazz. And I cannot express how thankful I am for that!
So, fast forward to today. Ron Paul is not on the ballot, the two evils are, and depending on the state, there are other third parties. I intend to vote for third party candidates. I am lucky because I have several to choose from here in Missouri. It will take a special Republican to get me to vote for them. I am now a born again American. I will never vote based on party again, only principles.
I hope that you will encourage all around you to do the same. Do not settle for either of the two evils, do not let the fear of one get you to vote for the other evil. It is still evil. Remember who is the author of fear, and don't let your decision be made based on fear. Base them on faith, or hope, on good principles. That is how you can change the way things are. Don't be insane and vote for the same and expect something different to happen.

This article is a few months old and the election is already over and done with. The greater evil was chosen. However, had McCain triumphed the result would have been the same. I tried to convince my good friends and family about the principles espoused in the article but to no success. Their mentality was that Obama must not be allowed to win. In this election, with our current two-party fanaticism, Evil will win regardless and has for a great number of years. However, I believe I am accountable before Father as to the principles I choose to stand behind with my vote. I couldn't in good conscience vote for either major party or candidate. My vote went to the Constitution and for Freedom regardless if my candidate had a shot. I feel it was the more valiant road to choose. |

| What folks forget is that voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. Then if the candidate you voted for gets elected, and does evil, you have no excuse. You voted for him! | |
